Alodine EC2 Brochure

We at American Trim are proud to introduce a revolutionary new ElectroCeramic coating process (Alodine EC²) for aluminum and titanium that can greatly increase the corrosion resistance of your products.

~ Jerry Handrich - Project Manager

Alodine EC² coats aluminum, titanium, and aluminized surfaces making them wear and corrosion resistant.

Alodine EC², Titanium Metal Oxide (TiO2) electrodeposited from the electrical assisted hydrolysis of metal complexes, provides superior resistance for harsh and demanding applications such as marine and high temperature engine environments against corrosion and wear.

Located in our Cullman, Alabama facility in the largest tank of its kind in the United States providing unparalleled coating capability.

See it in action – Watch the Alodine EC² video Alodine EC² can:
  • Provide a 3-12 micron thick layer of TiO2
  • Virtually eliminate corrosion
  • Drastically improves wear resistance
  • Enable the use of lower cost materials (e.g., aluminum vs. stainless steel)
  • Bond when combined with Loctite®, Hysol® and Teroson® brand adhesives
  • Withstand temperatures up to 600°C (1112°F) without corrosion performance loss
  • Provide superior protection over aluminum, titanium, and aluminized surfaces

Alodine EC² is thousands of times harder and more flexible than paint. The electrolytic process make it impervious to fuel and fuel vapor, powertrain lubricants, oil, and ethylene glycol. In short, it's tough!

Alodine EC² Specifications

  • Tank capacity: 108" long | 30" wide | 40" deep
  • Coating Hardness: 800 vickers

Alodine EC² Products

Initially, Alodine EC² was developed as a solution for the marine and aerospace industries. There, superior corrosion and wear resistance are needed to improve product longevity and safety. Now new industries like HVAC, Outdoor Lighting, Engine Components, Castings and more can enjoy the benefits this new process provides.

  • Boat engines
  • Pistons and intake valves
  • Rotor assembly
  • Elbow-shaped boat engines
  • Aerospace Industry to improve both weight and corrosion
  • Agricultural Industry - resists corrosion from chemicals
  • Marine lighting
