PVD Expert

“We are very excited to partner with DuPont, who clearly sees the potential in this market and we look forward to furthering this relationship between us as well as our current and future OEM partners. This represents another step in our dedication to expand this technology with development programs and to further the knowledge base on new, larger part capabilities.”

What is the AMCC...

The Advanced Materials Commercialization Center is a joint venture between American Trim, Rhodes State College and the Third Frontier Project of Ohio. The AMCC’s primary purpose is to advance the development of Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) on larger part applications. The AMCC is a full scale, production facility whose express purpose is to support full development programs for Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technology. The ultimate goal for the Center is to graduate the development programs into full scale production lines within American Trim’s manufacturing footprint.

Today the AMCC has three main functions:

To demonstrate finishing capabilities using PVD technology – A customer can request to test product finishes to analyze different finishing options.

As a learning environment – Rhodes State College will educate and train students in the application of the new technology and then support the new production facilities with the human talent.

As an experimental laboratory – The AMCC will be utilized in partnership with DuPont CoatingsSolutions to continue to advance the technology.

What we do...

This new manufacturing process represents a commitment by American Trim to make available new technologies to its existing and future customer base in the United States and abroad. The AMCC contains a 6’ X 12’ chamber which is among the largest in the United States.

American Trim has partnered with DuPont in an effort to advance the powder coating technology used in the PVD process. The powder serves as a protective, functional layer and smoothes out the surface with the potential to eliminate or greatly reduce surface preparation time meaning that no sanding or buffing is required on rough parts. This collaboration comes at a favorable moment as the market looks for more economical and sustainable solutions to their bright finish needs.
