PVD Expert
“ PVD will change the way people look at coated materials, from the bright and shiny finishes to the dark and opaque looking finishes. PVD can create any look you want besides creating new products from solar cells to tinted glass to layered metals for aerospace and electronics and beyond.”

Physical Vapor Deposition

What is a PVD coating...

Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) is a technology used to deposit thin film coatings onto Ferrous and Non Ferrous Substrates. PVD is a major departure from traditional metal plating technologies characterized by an extremely environmentally friendly footprint. The process allows for a “chrome-like” finish on virtually any substrate, while reducing overall costs compared to traditional plating technologies.

What we do...

We are currently working with multiple clients to advance this technology by way of development programs. The goal of the development programs is to perfect the technology on specific part applications resulting in a full production program.

Our PVD chamber is one of the largest of its kind in the U.S. which will enable these development programs to produce actual parts for further testing and validation. Customers can expect to find a facility which will allow customers to investigate
  • PVD coatings on parts with sizes up to 2’ X 2’ X 10’
  • PVD as an alternative solution for coating larger parts where traditional chrome has been used
  • A faster and potentially less costly chrome plating process
  • A totally green coating with no discharge to atmosphere or water because no chemicals are used
  • A totally clean production environment with a vacuum chamber for the smoothest finish possible

What are PVD coatings used for...

PVD supplies alternative coating options for numerous industries. Primarily designed for decorative finishing in the heavy duty truck and automotive industries, there is added interest from other markets such as appliances, recreational vehicles, furniture and building products.
Example Products Include
  • Automotive/Heavy Truck: Brush guards, bumpers, fuel tanks, grilles, interior trim, mirrors, mud flaps, running boards, sill plates, steps, truck bed rails, wheels
  • Motorcycle: Frame, handlebars
  • Appliance: Control panels, door panels, trim, small appliances
  • Marine: Interior and exterior trim, steering wheel
  • Building Products: Handles, railings, backsplashes, interior and exterior trim
  • Furniture: Residential and commercial
